Queen ‘irritated’ by lack of climate action by world leaders

The Queen, like her son and grandson, appears frustrated in the run-up to COP26, at the lack of action by world leaders to tackle climate change.

Speaking just after she had opened the Welsh Parliament, the Senedd, in Cardiff, the Queen was overheard to say…

“It’s very irritating when they talk, but they don’t do.”

She was talking with Elin Jones, the Presiding Officer of the Senedd, and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

The Queen was concerned that she does not know yet which world leaders are coming to the Glasgow climate conference starting in just a couple of weeks. She will be hosting a reception on the first day of COP26 to welcome the global leaders attending the event.

The Australian Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, has now said he will be attending COP26, but it appears likely that China’s Xi Jinping will not be coming.

The Russian, Indian and Brazilian leaders, Vladimir Putin, Narendra Modi and Jair Bolsonaro, are all yet to accept invitations.
