The Daily Climate Show : UK Energy Crisis, Johnson at the UN, Insulate Britain, California Wildfires…

Issues discussed on today’s Daily Climate Show include…

  • Britain’s Energy Crisis – skyrocketing gas prices and low wind speeds are causing problems for the energy supply industry with several smaller providers already collapsing.
  • Boris Johnson has been meeting with world leaders attending the UN General Assembly meeting about climate change, to gain commitments for support and funding ahead of COP26. The target is to get the richest countries to provide $100 billion per year to help poorer countries deal with the effects of climate change.
  • Insulate Britain have continued their protests on the M25. They are calling on the Government to commit to insulating all 29 million homes in Britain by 2030.
  • The Human Swan, Sacha Dench who was attempting a 3,000 mile motorised paraglider circumnavigation of Britain to raise awareness of climate change, has been injured and a member of her support staff killed in an accident.
  • The US National Weather Service has issued red flag wildfire warnings to parts of California. One of the main fires currently burning has now reached the Giant Forest, home to the world’s largest tree, in the Sequoia National Park.

Presenter Samantha Washington was joined by guests Michal Nachmany, Chief Executive of Climate Policy Radar, and Climate Scientist Michael E Mann to discuss some of these issues.
