In an interview with Sky News’ Trevor Phillips Green Party MP Caroline Lucas highlighted how COP26 President Alok Sharma‘s global ‘Climate Diplomacy’ for COP26 is being undermined by the Government’s actions at home.
The cut to the aid budget, the Cumbria coal mine, the Cambo oil field, the lack of any home insulation strategy are all destroying the Government’s credibility as a climate leader ahead of COP26 that the UK is hosting in November.
The Green Party MP also raised the crucial point that China and its leader Xi Jinping have yet to confirm attendance at COP26.
On the topic of the protests on the M25 by Insulate Britain Caroline Lucas defended the right to legitimate non-violent direct action in light of the climate emergency.
