The University of the West of England in Bristol has become the first university to install an aeroponic container farm for onsite production of leafy greens and micro-herbs for campus consumption.
The project, led by student Jamie Taylor, is a collaboration with LettUs Grow and the Greener Greens Co.
The 40 foot Drop & Grow container houses aeroponic, automated vertical farming technology.
Vicki Harris, UWE’s Sustainability Engagement Coordinator, welcomed the innovative addition to the campus saying that it will reduce food miles and help the university meet its CO2 emission reduction targets.
